Can I apply if my startup does not fit into one of your listed Impact Areas?

Yes, as long as your startup is on a mission to solve a social and environmental issue(s) in Asia. You may categorize your startup as “Your Impact Area” in the application form.

Do I qualify as an early-growth stage startup or a idea stage startup?

Can I submit an idea if I have no business experience? What are you looking for in idea-stage submissions?

We believe in the power of good ideas. The idea stage stream is open to original, innovative, groundbreaking social innovation ideas addressing one of ASIA’s 10 impact areas and must be submitted from Hong Kong. Submissions that show outside-of-the-box thinking, understanding of the social issue and determination to turn the idea into action will be prioritized.

How can I submit my application?

Applicants are only allowed to submit their idea via our online application form. Please email us if you experience any difficulties with your submission.

Can I participate as a team?

Whilst you can participate in the Award as a team, if you are residing outside of Hong Kong and in the event that your startup is selected as a finalist, ASIA will only provide return air tickets and accommodation for one member within your team. Of course, we encourage other members to join the award presentation ceremony held in Hong Kong at their own costs.

We provide return air tickets to Finalists selected from the following list of qualified Asian countries/cities, subject to the addition or removal of countries/cities at the sole discretion of SVhk: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, China, East Timor, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam. If your country is not listed, please contact us for further enquiries.

Can I enter more than one submission?

Yes, you may submit more than one submission as long as they are different social startups or ideas. We encourage you to submit what has the greatest potential to generate social impact with financial sustainability.

Can I submit in languages other than English and Chinese?

The judging panel will only judge those ideas that are in English or Chinese. If you are unable to fulfill this requirement, please seek help on translating your application into the appropriate language.

Can I apply if I am not able to attend the Grand Finals on 10-13 Feb, 2020 in Hong Kong?

All finalists must attend the Grand Finals in Hong Kong in person or through a representative from the team

Application Terms & Conditions:

1. The Organizer is only responsible for a round-trip economy class air ticket to and from a designated port of departure within the list of qualified Asian countries to Hong Kong. The round-trip air ticket is capped at a maximum subsidy of US$1,000 through the cheapest travelling means obtained by the Organizer. The round-trip air tickets cannot be converted into cash.We provide return air tickets to Finalists selected from the following list of qualified Asian countries/cities, subject to the addition or removal of countries at the sole discretion of SVhk: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, China, East Timor, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam. 2. The Organizer has the right to arrange for, change or cancel the travel plans of the winner without prior notice or compensation.
3. Accommodation is arranged at the sole discretion of the Organizer and rooms may be shared.
4. All participating proposals may be published on the Award website or any other media, to share with the public.
5. If selected, finalist must agree to share information and materials for marketing purposes
6. Social Ventures Hong Kong reserves the final right to interpret and amend such terms and conditions of the Award.
